In 2015, the Arizona Department of Education signed into law a new high school graduation requirement. This law comes from House Bill 2064 stating that in order to receive a high school diploma in Arizona, students must pass a civics exam with at least 60% proficiency. This graduation requirement applies to all students beginning with the graduating class of 2017.
Civics Test Dates:
The test will be administered throughout the school year in students History classes.
Do I still need to take it?

The PSAT will be held at the FHS Dome on October 23rd at 9AM. This is a great opportunity to practice taking an online, timed, standardized test, and it also serves as valuable preparation for the online ACT.
While the PSAT won’t be considered in your college admissions applications, it is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. Some of the highest-scoring students may win scholarship money. So, while you shouldn't stress too much about the PSAT, it's not something to overlook either. If you're unfamiliar with the National Merit Scholarship, you can read more about it here: National Merit Scholarship Information.
By purchasing the test, you are officially registering for the PSAT and reserving your seat. Please note that the test will be taken virtually on your iPads, which makes this even more beneficial as practice for the online ACT.
Please note that the $25 fee is tax credit eligible, which means we are unable to provide refunds if your student decides not to take the test or misses the test.
The ACT will be offered to all juniors at FHS during the second semester. More information to be released soon.
The Pre-ACT will be offered to all sophomores at FHS during the state testing window in the Spring. More information of the logistics of testing day will be shared with the students and parents once the dates have been set by the state.
