On September 19th, the Flagstaff High School Drama Club released the cast list for the school’s production of The Crucible. Auditions were on September 17-18th, with lots of enthusiastic Thespians arriving to the auditions for the play. The Crucible cast has rehearsals every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday after school. All of the students in A group of young people rehearse a play on a stage.the cast are very excited to perform the play in December when the shows are supposed to be. The play is being directed by the amazing Mrs. Murray who helped direct last year’s production of Chicago.

The cast for The Crucible goes like this, Ollie Tollis as John Proctor, Abigail Garcia as Abigail Williams, Nick Girdner as Judge Danforth, Eleni Owens as Elizabeth Proctor, Charlie Bacon as Reverend Parris, Cater Chun as Reverend John Hale, Ezra Muller as Thomas Putnam and Ezekiel Cheever, Sean Matthies as Giles Corey, Nika Beygo as Mary Warren, Chloe Russ as Tituba, Avery Fetzer as Mercy Lewis, Daisy Matje as Betty Parris, Amaya Argumedo as Ann Putnam and Sarah Good, Kiki Babbitt as Rebecca Nurse, Ash Freyer  as Francis Nurse, Chloe Russ as Judge Hathorne, Daisy Matje as Martha, Draven Hough as Marshall Herrick, Dalylah Shaffer as Susanna Walcott and lastly Blake Smith as Hopkins.

All the members of the cast are very talented actors that have been cast for The Crucible. People are wondering if these actors will be able to pull it off. The president of the drama club, Dalylah Shaffer said, “We have a really strong cast that understands how deep this play is, and because of that, they won’t just be able to pull it off but they will be able to create a great show.” This quote shows that they believe that the cast will be able to pull off this complicated play full of heartbreak, affairs and tragedy. A lot of thought and work went into casting for The Crucible. The president and the director took a lot of time and effort into putting people into the roles that fit them best.

All of the people in the cast are really excited to be able to put on this old play which has themes that are fitting for the times in which the world is currently in. The Crucible is full of themes of fear, and the dangers of spreading rumors and hysteria. The cast is exemplary at portraying the amount of fear that the characters are experiencing, as well as showing the pure desperation that some characters will go through to save the ones that they love from execution.
