Shake Your Flags and Play Your Flutes… It’s Band Day!

Shake Your Flags and Play Your Flutes… It’s Band Day!

Flagstaff High School Marching Band attends a yearly competition called Band Day. On October 18th, 2025, at 6:00 PM, schools from all across Arizona will come and compete against each other on the Northern American University football field. This provides many opportunities to show the crowd and the judges what the marching band is all about, and to show everyone what we have been working so hard on since before the school year has even started.

On Band Day, FHS Marching Band will be competing in division I. Not to toot the horn players horn, but over the last several years we have won the “best crowd reaction” award and we would love to keep it that way. How can you help? If possible, please bring yourselves, your family, and your friends to support your Eagle Marching Band and scream and cheer us on as loud as possible to catch the judges’ eyes and ears so we can continue this very well-deserved tradition! The theme still remains the same throughout the entire year which is, “music from great cities.” On football games, the marching band loves to show the crowd what we are performing for band day at our halftime performance, what we are wearing, and of course the magical tunes that our band plays!

This day coming closer and closer is so exciting but very nerve wracking as we watch each band practice go by, as October finally arrives, and the air turns crisp, with the clouds blocking the sun, that's when we know, band day is almost here. But no worries will be shown from the Eagle Marching Band since we are more than ready for this competition and to show pride for our beloved school. As one of the drum majors, Dalylah Shaffer said “We have a really good group of kids this year and it is really difficult to get an entire show on the field as fast as we did, and so far, it's been really good and we're really excited!” The confidence from the drum majors and band directors definitely rubs off on the whole marching band, spiking our confidence!
