From September 15th to October 15th, everyone should celebrate Hispanic Heritage month and here are the reasons why. First off, all cultures should be celebrated, honored and accepted. It is also important to learn about the origins and meanings of this month and all about Hispanic heritage. On the first topic, that all different types of cultures are celebrated in their own ways and that helps people not have to change themselves to fit into a melting pot culture.

Onto the next topic, The Hispanic Heritage Month was brought and passed by congress in 1968, and it is celebrated to recognize all of the national independence days for Latin American countries such as Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama. Originally, the celebration was only a week long, but ended up extending to be 30 days long because congress wanted to properly recognize the role and contributions of the Hispanic community.

Here are some facts about Hispanic heritage you might not be aware of. Hispanic/ Latino Americans form the largest ethnic minority group in the United States, and have raised 18% in recent years and are still quickly growing. The most common religion in the Hispanic/Latino heritage is Catholicism, and the main reason for that is the historical legacy of Spanish and Portuguese colonization that introduced the religion to Latin America. In the Latino community, they have a lot of respect for their elders and family. The meals that the Latinos usually eat are tacos, enchiladas and tamales which are also important to them to show their culture and reflect on what they like.

In conclusion, Hispanic people are very interesting and they all have interesting ways that they celebrate their religion and freedom. Hispanic heritage month is an important month that is a great way for them to celebrate their independence, freedom and culture.
