A perfect side quest for an extended lunch period, or an after-school bite would be to go to the local businesses, such as Mama Burger, and Kickstand. These two gems are located right next to Flagstaff High School, and have become a very popular hang-out spot for breaks, studies, and weekend meetups for the students of FHS. The environments from both places, and the memories that have been created from these wholesome spots surely mark the perfect reasons for why students come here,
Kickstand Cafè offers a relaxing environment where you can study for an upcoming exam, read a book, or just sip a cup of one of their delicious coffees while admiring the homey vibes that radiate off of the place. This spot is very upscale and a perfect place to unwind after a day of long classes. Kickstand offers many different varieties of coffee, pastries, and a lunch menu that can fill up your tummy, all in a short amount of time. The combination of great food, a cozy atmosphere, and overall closeness to FHS makes Kickstand a favorite among many students at the high school.
Next up is another classic, and iconic choice, Mama Burger. The satisfaction of very affordable food, at a fast pace, and a fun, wholesome environment, all pulls the students at FHS to come here for lunch and after school to enjoy this awesome place. The burgers, crispy fries, and creamy milkshakes, all speak for the place. How amazing it is to walk a few steps down the road to come and get yourself fueled up? If you want just a simple burger, or something even more loaded, Mama Burger has you covered! The menu at this place is full of what teenagers love to eat, and its allergy-friendly options. I have a peanut allergy, and it means a lot to have a place I can go and trust that they care enough to clean their surfaces to make sure I don’t die!
Anyways, these two places are quite the heart for some students, and we all greatly appreciate these two places, just like Grace Merchant said when I asked her if she enjoys going to school next to these two places, and if she feels like it connects people together. “It does make students feel connected, me and my friends go to Mama Burger and Kickstand a lot. We all like the food, and I know some of the workers there that went to school with us! Overall, it’s all cool and yummy.”
