Taste the Class of Flavor: The Kinlani Sophomore Food Sale!

Another one of the Kinlani Dormitory Sophomore Sales just came and went this last Tuesday at the Kinlani Dormitory, running from 11AM to 5PM. Every other 2 weeks, the Kinlani Dormitory Sophomores transform their courtyard into a hub of delicious food and community spirit. Known as the Sophomore Food Sales, this biweekly event offers more than just amazing food—it’s a fundraiser with a purpose. One student confirmed that these sales were hosted often, every two weeks or so the students get together to plan these events. Their upcoming sophomore sale will be scheduled sometime after Thanksgiving break. When asked why the sales were done, Kinlani Dormitory student, Jesse McCabe states, “the reason why we do it is because the sophomore sale gives us an opportunity to gain monetary income for a future senior trip. Like working until senior year where we can enjoy the fruits of labor.”
While the menu tends to stay the same, it's filled with local favorites that don’t fail to draw attention. Guests can expect Navajo tacos and burgers, jalapeño poppers, hotdogs, along with frybread, nachos, and a variety of snacks and beverages. The items on the menu are chosen for being affordable and simple, allowing the sophomores to keep prices lower than other class sales. The events aren’t just about food but also a little fun. The student added, “Yeah, it’s a cookout thing but there's also a potential raffle where prizes could be won.” Which is meant to attract more people to keep their future events livelier and fun.
The sophomores always have flyers for their events hung in the halls of Flagstaff High School and even have some teachers promoting the event, spreading the word among locals. So by the time noon rolls around, the Kinlani Dorm fills their courtyard with the smell of delicious foods and students helping left and right. For the sophomores, these sales are a way to bond, build memories, and work towards a shared goal. So go support the Kinlani Dormitory food sales!
