In the fall of 2013, the amazing and cozy tea shop, Steep opened in Downtown Flagstaff. The tea shop was opened by a lovely tea enthusiast named Jean; she opened the cafe with her husband. Jean was originally from Chicago, but she moved to Flagstaff back in 2002. Steep is a very small tea shop located downtown with just 9 employees, but the fact that it is a small little cafe makes it very cozy. Steep has a welcoming environment and is a really great place to study and hang out with your friends.
Jean has always loved tea, and she got fed up with the lack of tea cafes and decided to make one of her own. Jean said when asked about why she decided to open Steep. “I was always a big tea lover, and wished there was a tea dedicated space.” It seems that the universe had agreed with her decision because she said that the day she bought the place where Steep now resides, she and her husband saw a double rainbow in the sky.
Jean really enjoys having her cafe in Downtown Flagstaff because she gets to hear all the local gossip and know all about what is going on in town. Jean also really enjoys seeing all the unique people that inhabit Flagstaff as they come into the cafe for some tea. Steep is a place for people to linger and relax, a place that is designed for people to want to spend a lot of time in. The workers at Steep are very friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs and the environment they work in. The drinks and pastries at Steep are amazing— all of the teas are rich in flavor and not overwhelmingly sugary, they are a perfect balance between sweet and strong.
Overall, the history of Steep is rich and is the pride and joy of a woman with a dream. If ever someone needs a place to relax and study or just a simple drink to go, Steep is the place for them.
