The History of our Eddie

Sabe Hernandez Rodriguez

Then it comes to identity, Flagstaff High School makes it clear what we are as a school. We are built on “Focus, Honor, and Success” and we have an identity to associate ourselves with, Eagles! powerful raptors known for incredible eyesight to represent Flagstaff pride. We have Eddie Eagle as our mascot for events and school assemblies, throwing glow sticks, dancing, and bringing good FHS spirit overall.

Eddie the EagleSince when did we get such a mascot? Well, on August 6, 2019 a mascot of school spirit debuted to embody FHS pride! I bet you don’t know that this Over 200-pound mascot is more than just a mascot but an interesting specimen with hobbies and Interests. According to his Weebly page his favorite hobbies include, “working on my T-shirt launch, practicing my dance moves, meeting Eagle fans in the community, and always working on my shenanigans.” All of these specialties are present assemblies when we celebrate being an FHS Eagle. A mascot of a high school isn’t without its enemies however.

Flagstaff High School has a longtime friendly rivalry with Coconino High School, and so does Eddie, who has stated on his Weebly page that the Coconino Panthers are his foes. He shows our strength as eagles against all odds. Our mascots align with what we stand for as a school. For Eddie it’s Focus, Honor, and Success
