The Energy Sources
The Energy Sources
Sabe Hernandez Rodriguez
Everyone has a way to wake themselves up in the morning. Either it be drinking a cup of coffee, exercise or even a cold shower. For students, it’s really no different. Students stay up all night because they are studying or got too invested in a Netflix series. You may notice students coming in with certain energy drinks and Dutch Bros but why is that? Why specifically Red Bull, Monster, and Dutch Bros?
This question was asked to Flagstaff High School students and gave me interesting answers. Lillian Davis, Flagstaff High School Sophomore, why she’d bring energy drinks to school from time to time, she said, “sometimes I bring an energy drink because I can’t really focus when I'm sleepy. It gives me a burst of energy” a lot of teachers stick with coffee but students stick with energy drinks more because of the amount of energy the beverage gives to the students.
I asked a similar question to another student who wished to stay anonymous. This student usually brought either Starbucks or Dutch Bros with them, so a bit of a change when it comes to a student-picked drink. She says,” I like Starbucks. I find that on my way to school, I can stop by Starbucks to get a custom drink to wake me up for school.”
Aside from two students I interviewed, I was able to tally votes from other FHS students; Energy Drink, Starbucks, and Dutch. A total of 38 students preferred Energy Drink, a tally of 45 students chose Starbucks, and 40 students chose Dutch Bros. there were 27 students that were indecisive or preferred something different. An easy energy boost is needed when you are constantly bombarded with school work and outside work. It is hard to do anything without a little energy.
