What if you respected yourself instead of calling yourself useless? Have you wondered if you could try something like being an Industrial Electrician but by taking time to build up to it instead of immediately? I assure you that not only you have wondered if being an electrician is worth it. The electrician for this career spotlight, Jason Romero, is an Industrial Electrician at Restoration Forest Products. He specializes in troubleshooting machines when something goes wrong with electricity and builds electrical structures or systems for the machines. From lights, to motors, to receptacles, or controls (Anything from 24v dc to 480v ac), they have to understand the right codes for things like sawdust for fires to explosions. He is a lead for most of his crew and helps lead and develop plans for his team.
Before this job, he worked at a grocery store and at a hardware store then he started for Northland Electric as an electrician to learn
commercial and residential electrical. While at Northland Electric, he completed his electrical apprenticeship through the Northern Arizona electrical contractor’s association. After that, he went to work for Bronson Electric by running electrical jobs for the Loves gas station in Williams. In 2019, he ended up helping run the emergency power system at the Flagstaff Hospital. Now, he is in the Restoration Forest Products in Belmont after he applied for the position of Industrial Electrician.
His education was Zimmerly Elementary, Sarracino middle school, and Socorro High School all in Socorro, New Mexico. He was raised in New Mexico, moved to Flagstaff, but many people in his family still live in New Mexico in different areas like Socorro. For readers abroad, yes, you do have the ability to become an Industrial Electrician. In his words, “I had one instance where I was talking to someone who got more pay than me and wondered if I had chosen the right career. There’s not just one level to this though. I didn’t get into the best job in the world, sure, but I am the best in my job if I remember to push myself. That is what gets me to higher levels in this job and allows me to pay for the things I need. I’m gonna enjoy it.”
