Flagstaff is a very creative town, so it should come as no surprise that there’s a wide range of musicians here, in all sorts of different genres. With that being said, it's also not very hard to find live music around town, many places downtown offer live shows every weekend with a
large rotation of bands and musicians.
The smallest venue in Flagstaff is The Hive which is also the only all-ages venue in Flagstaff since most others are bars. The largest venue in Flagstaff is Pepsi Amphitheater which from my personal experience, can be heard from a mile and a half away on a good night. Flagstaff offers these and about everything in between when it comes to music venues, from the NAU Concert Hall to playing in the square, in Flagstaff, music can be heard everywhere.
For this article, I thought it fitting to interview my guitar teacher, Ceta Singley, who does a lot more than just teach music lessons to any age student at Arizona Music Pro, but also plays for several bands in the area as a guitarist and keyboard player. He’s played all over the state, from Jerome to Central Phoenix, with all sorts of different bands.
When I was talking to Ceta, he said, “it's crazy how much music you can find when you’re looking, even in a small town like Flagstaff.” He informed me that many famous musicians have lived in Flagstaff, although confirming some of them is difficult. Flagstaff is also flooded with smaller bands, so it’s not hard to find flyers for bands playing around town. Flagstaff has a broad diversity of musicians from different genres and backgrounds, so you’re sure to find people who like the same music as you, no matter how obscure it may be.
