Legendary Teacher Day Nominations

Dear FUSD Families and Staff,

Thursday, September 24, is Legendary Teacher Day, a day to recognize teachers who make a lasting difference in the lives of students.

Dr. Nicholas Clement, Ernest McFarland Citizen’s Chair in Education at Northern Arizona University, describes Legendary Teachers as educators who:

• Build meaningful relationships with students

• Create engaging learning experiences

• Hold high expectations and believe in students

• Create supportive and challenging learning environments

• Continue to grow as educators

Nominate a Legendary FUSD Teacher

FUSD invites students, families, community members, and staff to recognize a current FUSD teacher by sharing a tribute about the difference they have made.

Share a specific story or example that shows what makes this teacher legendary. Selected tributes may be featured through FUSD communications and social media, and tributes will be shared with nominated teachers.

From the nominations received, four current FUSD teachers will be selected as Legendary Teachers and each receive $500 from Dr. Clement and Northern Arizona University. Recipients will also be recognized at an upcoming FUSD Governing Board meeting.

Nominations are due September 11, 2026.
